Disaster Alert App mentioned in USA Today article!

Friday, March 18th, 2011

We are proud to report that technology provided by Bump Networks has been helpful to users across the globe in the wake of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Disaster Alert, a mobile app developed by Bump Networks for the Pacific Disaster Center, was highlighted in an article on USA Today’s website.

The Disaster Alert app is free to download and provides listings and interactive maps of Active Hazards (a collection of current and real-time incidents from authoritative sources which have been designated “potentially hazardous to people, property, or assets”) that occur around the globe.

The recent earthquake and tsunami events in Japan (and Tsunami warnings in Hawaii) have triggered a staggering jump in downloads for the Pacific Disaster Center’s Disaster Alert App for both Apple (iPod touch, iPhone, iPad) and Android mobile devices. As many as 12,000 downloads were made on the Apple mobile devices, and more than 18,000 on Android devices.

Through this technology, people have the information to need to help them make important decisions in times of despair, and help others not in the affected areas keep track of loved ones across the globe.

Ray Shirkhodai, director of the Pacific Disaster Center mentions in the USA TODAY article that “information about events can be seen in the app up to 30 minutes before mainstream media can broadcast the message.” He even goes on to tell the story of about a user from Hawaii that emailed PDC, saying that he was able to fill up their car’s gas tank before everyone else even knew about the tsunami.

Be prepared for anything and visit the Apple iTunes store or the Android market to download your free copy of Disaster Alert today!

A Bump Makeover: MauiSunseeker.com’s new design goes live!

Monday, March 14th, 2011

This is an example of a Bump Makeover that went live today for Maui Sunseeker’s website .  Check out the differences between the before and after below followed by an explanation of why we did what we did. Let us know what you think!

Do you know a website that needs a makeover?  Send us a link to the site and we’ll evaluate the possibilities to see if our Bump team can give it the makover edge it deserves.

Maui Sunseeker Before.....

...Maui Sunseeker After!!

Wow!  What a HUGE difference!

First off we gave Maui Sunseeker a well-deserved splash of color with complimentary dark purples and golden yellows and an updated logo.  Bump took the tiny, non-user friendly navigation bar and beefed it up, making sure it was easily accessible no matter what page you were on, and even made sure that their booking system was easily accessible by offering it right on the homepage and several other pages throughout the site.

The major change was implementing a HD PTZ webcam (HD PTZ stands for “High-Definition Pan-Tilt-Zoom”).  By adding controls to the feed, users can control what they see – zoom-in and zoom-out, and rotate from left to right / up-down as they please!
