Monday, January 31st, 2011

Bump Networks teamed up with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to launch a newly redesigned website and social media campaign in time for the 68th Golden Globes Awards event earlier this month.  After a tremendously successful event and online campaign, the HFPA recently shared their appreciation for us.  We couldn’t be happier for the great success and we’re already thinking about how we can make further glamorous improvements for next year!

A Bump Makeover: ACK-INC.com

This is an example of a Bump Makeover for the website Albert C. Kobayashi, Inc. Check out the differences between the before and after below followed by an explanation of why we did what we did. Let us know what you think!

Do you know a website that needs a makeover?  Send us a link to the site and we’ll evaluate the possibilities to see if our Bump team can give it the makover edge it deserves.

Before

After!

Our design team was able to bring Albert C. Kobayashi’s site up to date in lots of refreshing new ways.  First off, we were able unify the overall look of the whole site by taking the oranges and tans from the logos on the old site and incorporating them into a whole new color theme, replacing the bright blue navigation bar and stark white background.

We got rid of the left navigation bar and put it up at the top, right next to the revised logo, which also got a makeover by adding more dimension to it so that it ‘pops’.  Instead of having the body consist of plain text that scrolls downwards like on the old homepage, we put in snippets with images on the homepage from the different sections of the site, so the user can get a general overview of information that the site has to offer.

Additionally, a search box is added to the top of the page so a user can look for specific information, as well as a drop-down menu in the center of the page under “Client Services”, so the user can quickly jump to the desired area of interest.  These key features bring AKC’s website up to par with modern design and functionality while helping users navigate through the site more efficiently, all of which drive more good business.

Bump Makeover Mobile: LuxuryHomeMagazine.com

This is an example of a Bump Makeover Mobile for the website www.LuxuryHomesMagazine.com.  We’ve taken a website and squished it into an iPhone.   How cool is that?  Let us know what you think!

Luxury Home Magazine iPhone App

Lets face it, everyone is going mobile and having a website alone won’t cut it anymore.  Today it’s about instant gratification and having everything at your fingertips on a mobile device.  You can now find places to dine by looking up reviews, tweet  your latest encounter at the coffee shop, or order that new pair of shoes all from your phone..the possibilities are endless!  Let’s use Luxury Home Magazine as an example.  We’ve taken a fully functional website and made the same features available on an iPhone app.

A user can click on “Near by Homes for Sale” and instantly see listings surrounding the user’s location on a map.  Effortlessly view listings through the search box at the top of the iPhone screen, and for each listing you get an image, address, price, and several specs about the home.  Agents can be found with the flick of a fingertip, with names of Realtors and phone numbers that you can dial directly from the page.

Its a magazine going from print, to web, to mobile devices.  Reaching out to people at this broad of a spectrum and spreading the word about your business has never been easier.

A Bump Makeover: SecurityProShop.com

This is an example of a Bump Makeover for the website www.securityproshop.com.  Check out the differences between the before and after below followed by an explanation of why we did what we did. Let us know what you think!

Before

After

Our design team gave the site a unified and uncluttered appearance by using darker, ‘industrial’ colors, streamlining page content, and tweaking the logo just a tad.  A new navigation bar system with sub-links at the top helps users find what they are looking for more easily without confusion.

Homepage content is directed more towards featured products and best sellers to help inform users on smarter choices instead of various boxes of content, which can become distracting and overwhelming.  Additionally, a live-chat feature is added, which enables user one-on-one consultation with a knowledgeable representative.  These key features allow the user to quickly find products and services and encourage them to make smarter choices on their purchase.

This website makeover was accepted by Security Proshop and you can view the new layout by visiting their site!

What is a QR code, and how the heck do a bunch of black and white pixels of a QR come together in harmony to help promote your business?

QR codes allow mobile users to instantly get more information about your company, and with the QR FlipFlop app, not only can you read other QR codes, but you can create them as well. This is a perfect solution for businesses to get their information out there instantly via print and web, and let everyone out there know what they’re all about. It’s the fastest way to share contacts, locations, urls, app urls, and other content.  Here are a few ways that QR FlipFlop can help your small business:

Social Media Frenzy

Sure, having a company website is crucial, but now days it’s all about social media networking through sites like Facebook and Twitter.  With QR FlipFlop, generate codes that direct people to your social media page where they can find out more about your company and even give them the chance to “follow” or “like” you.  Once that happens, they continue to get updates about your brand, thus creating and keeping a relationship with your customers.

Booming Business Cards

Business cards are still out there trying to get your company seen and heard.  Make them work even harder for you by adding a QR code to it.  Not only does it look cool, but you create almost an instant connection with the recipient by allowing easy access to more information about you and your business.  This may not cause your website to crash due to an overflow of traffic, but every bit of exposure helps.

Interactive Print Ads

Fill in the blank space between print and web.  Believe it or not, print is still alive and what better way to rake in users to your business by using QR FlipFlop – generated codes on your print advertisements.  QR codes are a great way to generate traffic to your company website or social media page.

QR FlipFlop can help you create printed codes that you can use in advertising throughout the town. Spread the word about your business and get the attention from passers-by.  Sure, you can get them to your website, but this isn’t always going to establish a strong connection to your brand.  There are other ways to use QR codes to your advantage besides linking users to your site.  QR FlipFlop code can generate a code with a Map Location to your business, which can then be bookmarked by the user.  This is a great way to get customers into your door!

Other Types of Fun

Who doesn’t like a challenge?  Interact with users with games like scavenger hunts. Create printed QR codes with QR Flipflop and plaster them throughout town and offer digital or physical prizes to those who find them.  This is a great way for small businesses to promote their company by engaging people with your brand.

GoldenGlobes.org launches redesign in time for the 2011 Golden Globe Awards

Friday, January 14th, 2011

Bump networks has completed another successful redesign and launch of GoldenGlobes.org, the official website of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) and the Golden Globe Awards, just in time for the 2011 Golden Globes Awards.  Today’s launch marks the third collaboration between Bump Networks and the HFPA. Bump Networks created the previous versions of GoldenGlobes.org in 2009 and 2005, prompting the HFPA to approach them to update the site for the 68th Golden Globe Awards.

The newly, redesigned GoldenGlobes.org homepage

The main change on the site begins on the homepage, with a new layout that consists of a photo and video composition.  In anticipation of the 68th annual Golden Globe Awards Ceremny on Sunday, January 16th, users get the VIP treatment with a behind-the-scenes photo slide-show on the left, and sneak peaks of the glitz and glamor of the Golden Globes with video clips to on the right.

Additionally, users can now interact with the site by following the Golden Globes’s whereabouts on Twitter and see the latest posts from Facebook.  From the ‘Nominations and Winners’ page, users can even follow the progress of different awards categories via Twitter by clicking on the hashtags beneath each category.

Held annually since 1944, the Golden Globe Awards recognize the year’s top achievements in film and television. Broadcast in over 150 countries and attended by Hollywood’s elite, it represents one of the largest entertainment industry events of the year with guests such as Brad Pitt, Steven Spielberg and more.
