Brief

The Pacific Disaster Center is chock full of helpful information and alerts regarding disasters. After releasing a website version of the DisasterAWARETM map application, we discovered that there was a huge demand a mobile version.

Solution

So, we applied what we learned from the website to a mobile app for iPhones, and ta da! We now have a mobile system that reports Active Hazards. The term "Active Hazards" refers to a collection of current and real-time incidents (compiled from authoritative sources) which have been designated "potentially hazardous to people, property, or assets" by the PDC DisasterAWARETM application.
